Nina Verkoeyen:
"Mission Possible"
In this bold conversation, the founder of Meta Spirituality talks about the nonexistence of past lives, why enlightenment is for people with big egos, and what everyone's primary life mission is.
Nina Verkoeyen is the founder of Meta Spirituality, a spiritual movement rapidly gaining popularity in the West. She has 20 years of experience in human consciousness and hundreds of thousands of students worldwide. In this bold conversation, Nina talks about Meta Spirituality, the nonexistence of past lives, why enlightenment is for people with big egos, and everyone's primary life mission.
— Nina, Meta Spirituality is known for its direct, bold approach to spirituality. It teaches that reincarnation doesn't exist, there are no souls, and spiritual practice is more detrimental to our personal growth than helpful. All of this contradicts our common spiritual knowledge. Where did these ideas come from?
— I understand how new, different and radical Meta Spirituality looks when everyone shouts about past lives and souls from every corner. It was revolutionary for me too, when I encountered it.
Before, I spent almost two decades believing in and teaching about souls, past lives, and other common concepts passed to me by my spiritual teachers and inherited from the hundreds of spiritual books I read. But in 2016, I experienced a spontaneous awakening that made me see The Truth. The Truth was cruel and blinding. Everything I believed my whole life turned out to be an illusion, a collective self-hypnosis. Convenient concepts our ego-minds created to console and keep us in our comfort zone. They disappeared when my awakening happened.
I spent a week writing down all the epiphanies about every area of life that came to me. Those writings became a foundation for my landmark work, a course of lectures called "THE LAST TRUTH" - this is how I am passing this knowledge to those ready for the next step. For the final step - to let go of old identity and become what we truly are: The Creator. So my spiritual awakening in 2016 is where the ideas and core principles of Meta Spirituality came from.
— But what about the proof of past lives? If reincarnation is not true, why do some people remember their past lives?
— Since the dawn of time, humans would get a glimpse into the state of true self by using psychoactive substances, going through near-death experiences, prolonged fasting, or other stressful mind-altering situations.
Those glimpses into their actual true Meta self would only last a few minutes, hours at best. They would show just a fraction of what an undistorted view of reality looks like - an interconnectedness and being one with everything there is - people, animals, plants.
At that moment, you can suddenly, accidentally zoom into any other body from the past, present, or future - and it will feel like you are that person.
After such a spontaneous jump into Oneness is over, a person is left one-on-one with his usual dual ego-mind that craves an explanation and interpretation of what's happened. And the mind that operates in separation has no other explanation than this: "If it felt like me, but it was also another person - this must have been me in my past life then."
A fragmented Mind doesn't understand Oneness and how you can simultaneously be you and someone else. So it comes up with the idea that it was you "in some past life."
So the experience of being someone else is true. But the interpretation of what it means - is wrong. It is not you in your past life - it is simply you.
The Truth is you are not one. You are One in many. Everyone is you, and you are in everyone. You don't feel it only because you have a natural buffer called your ego-mind that maintains your perception of yourself as an individual personality. The moment the ego-mind goes away, you'll feel everything and everyone at once. This is not conducive to life as we know it. So we need our ego-minds and shouldn't try to get rid of them. But we can learn the Truth behind the veil of separateness that the mind creates.
The so-called "memories of past lives" are not, in fact, memories of some separate past life you lived. They only mean that you zoomed into one specific person and not into another one or everyone at once. But you can consciously zoom into anyone you want from the "past", "future", or present - when you are aware of your true self.
— What caused your awakening? Did you fast, meditate, take drugs, or did you do something else that not everyone can or will do?
— None of the above.
It was a choice to know.
The choice was a combination of two things.
a) being disappointed with all spiritual practices that didn't give me tangible results despite my decades of dedication to them. Letting go of the old "intermediary ways" made me open up and become ready for a new way of direct revelation.
b) my ambition and desire to know the Truth, to discover the Universe's main secret about who we are, and my desire to influence life events and other people.
Let me say something unpopular. I believe that enlightenment is easier achieved by people with big egos.
But if you think about it, it's very logical.
How can people who don't have a big ego, are not ambitious, not audacious, and do not desire big achievements in life achieve the biggest human task - enlightenment? How can one who doesn't have it in his character climb to the top of his inner Everest and reach the peak of his human potential? Where will he get the stamina, abilities, and fuel from?
One must be ambitious enough even to think it's possible. Stubborn enough to keep going even if it doesn't happen immediately. Competitive enough to want to be the best in everything, including spiritual matters. And assertive enough not to be satisfied with lesser teachings than The Truth.
So I always joke that enlightenment and Meta Spirituality are for people with big ambitions and egos and successful enough in their social realization or at least actively trying to be.
— But do we not need to get rid of the Ego afterward? And what about all those techniques and spiritual practices that aim to lessen your Ego - are they not required?
— Once you reach the peak of who you are, once you see the Truth - your Ego, like a burned fuel you wasted fully to make the ascent, falls off of you naturally. No ego survives The Truth.
All the attempts and practices to get rid of Ego before you even know the Truth are not helpful. And all those non-duality ideas about the dangers of having desires are dangerous.
If you don't desire to know the Truth - you will not know it because this world is an extension of your will. Conscious will or not - it's another story. You will things into existence. And your desire to know The Truth should be strong enough to withstand every obstacle and every half-truth you meet on your way.
You can't have a strong, focused, conscious desire to reach The Truth and yet no ego at the same time. If you have no ego, you are a vegetable, not The Creator. Desires fuel The Creator and what The Creation is in its essence. The desire to expand, extend, and experience like an ever-expanding Universe.
You don't need to get rid of your Ego - you need to redirect its fuel, energy, and passion toward the true goal of knowing and being who you are.
— What is the core difference between Meta Spirituality and other teachings?
— With Meta Spirituality, you can have a direct relationship with The Creator which is you - without any intermediaries, practices, rituals, prayers, mantras, or other popular tools of mainstream spirituality. Meta Spirituality makes you graduate from being a student of life to being The Creator of life.
It is the only spiritual teaching capable of changing your core identity and showing you how to be the Creator in physical form. It is the only spiritual tradition that allows you to enter the undistorted view of reality.
This makes Meta Spirituality the most powerful and transformative spiritual movement there is.
— What is your mission, Nina?
— We all have one core mission, to know the spiritual Truth of who we are, to express who we are knowingly and without fear, and to share that knowledge with the world through a medium of our liking. To test "What else is possible for me as The Creator" and consciously create life scenarios we don't suffer in but enjoy. And, for each of us, this mission is possible. I'm determined to make everyone realize it.
